Process Management

Many users, particularly those seeking an external quality approval such as ISO 9000, have standard development processes they expect their development teams to follow. Without proper process management support built in to the SCM tool, this can involve considerable bureaucracy which is often resented and ignored by developers.

Properly integrated process management features allow the developer to ensure that components progress through chosen lifecycle phases before being released. An example of this would be to help ensure that testing and quality assurance phases were carried out before release of the product.
